After you have been in a kampong or some remote place in Malaysia for even a day or two, you get a culture shock when you come back home.

The modern buildings. The transport infrastructure. The well-paved roads.

You can't help thinking to yourself: If we hadn't gain any independence and were still under Malaysia, our country would still be like those kampong areas.

And for that, we should all be grateful for what we have now.
